R. Louis Vajda is a doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
At the University of Wisconsin, Louis is pursuing a DMA in Wind Conducting with a minor in Music Cognition Research. He serves as conductor of the Wednesday University Band, and as a graduate teaching assistant with the UW Marching Band and undergraduate Conducting Courses. In the community, Louis also serves as the artistic director and primary conductor of the Madison Chamber Players.
Louis taught in Michigan public schools from 2019–2022. Most recently, he instructed beginning, intermediate, and high school orchestra, beginning band, and an extra-curricular fiddle club, in Mt. Pleasant Public Schools.
Louis is an active member of the Gordon Institute for Music Learning (GIML), and holds a Choral Level 1 certification. His research focuses on the applications of Music Learning Theory for undergraduate conducting students and practicing teachers.
